mercy & grace

Last week, I invited a friend to coffee that I hadn’t seen in a while. As I sat across from her, she shared what the last year of her life had looked like. Like so many of us, she had believed the lies of the enemy and fell into an entrapment of sin. I could see she was determined to dig her way out with her authenticity in baring all. I could see and hear the repentance in her vulnerability. But I could also see and hear that although she has experienced and knows His mercy and grace, she hasn’t quite accepted it in its fullness yet. So as I listened, I prayed that He would provide the words she needed to hear.

The words above effortless fell from my lips at His tender call, and that night He used those two sentences and a cup of coffee to remind two women of His goodness.

He reminded my friend that He is The Fulfiller of Promises and that His mercy and grace sometimes come from unexpected places. He also taught me that we truly thrive when we set ourselves and our discomforts aside to move to the sound of His voice and pour out the overflowing mercy and grace that He freely gives by setting and celebrating a feast for someone else.
